SICS and LECERP explore Collaboration Opportunities

October 9, 2026

The School of Information and Communication Studies (SICS), recently held an engagement meeting with the Legon Centre for Education Research and Policy (LECERP) to explore practical areas of collaboration spanning communication support, joint research, capacity building, and knowledge translation.

The meeting was led on the SICS side by the Dean, Professor Abena Animwaa Yeboah-Banin, and on the LECERP side by its Director, Dr. Clement Adamba. In attendance were Research Fellows and Assistants of LECERP, and the Head of the Department of Communication Studies, Dr Aurelia Ayisi.

The conversation surfaced a wide range of services by the Department of Communication Studies that could support the work of LECERP, including research communication, capacity building on media relations and science communication to non-academic audiences, and media relations planning and execution.  and public The two sides also discussed joint research that enabled a communication lens to be applied to education research and policy.  A central theme was integrating communication into research from the very beginning of projects with the aim of sharpening research questions, strengthening stakeholder engagement and improving the opportunity of findings to shape policy and education outcomes. SICS’s Information Studies Department was also identified as a potential partner for managing LECERP’s data storage, security and retrieval needs.

SICS will continue developing collaborations of this kind across the University, as part of its wider effort to extend the reach and impact of its communication and information expertise beyond the School.
