Message from the Dean
Welcome to the School of Information and Communication Studies at the University of Ghana!
Our School is among Africa’s foremost institutions dedicated to scholarship, training and extension services in the disciplines of communication and information. Our two departments (Information Studies and Communication Studies) are hubs of excellence in their respective areas.
The world is changing! With this change has come new opportunities and challenges to the information and communication ecologies, not least of which are Artificial Intelligence, the content revolution, rising inequalities, disinformation and climate change. Our curriculum, research initiatives and extension activities are responsive and always evolving to meet the demands of these challenges and opportunities.
Ours is a vibrant community of talented students, excellent faculty, supportive administrative staff and partners working together to make your stay meaningfully life-changing. Here, you will work with faculty who are recognised for their excellence in teaching and scholarship, and community engagement. You will also be supported by our amazing administrative staff. You will also benefit from our exchanges with our local and global partners, including industry leaders.
Our vision as a model of excellence in information and communication research and teaching commits us to develop the next generation of communication and information professionals who use their skills to address complex problems in existing and emerging media, communication, data and information industries.
Whatever the reason that connects you to us, we look forward to working with you to shape the future of the world and its information and communication sectors.
