SICS MOVES TOWARDS LANDMARK PARTNERSHIP WITH PENN STATE HARRISBURG

August 7, 2025

The School of Information and Communication Studies (SICS) is advancing plans for a formal collaboration with the Communication Studies Division of Penn State Harrisburg, in a move that marks a significant step in the school's internationalisation agenda.
Dean of SICS, Prof. Abena Animwaa Yeboah-Banin, hosted Prof. Juliette Tolay, Assistant Dean for Global Engagement at Penn State Harrisburg, for a face-to-face meeting at her office. The meeting was the second round of discussions following an initial virtual meeting between the two institutions.

The talks centred on concrete areas for collaboration including teaching exchanges, joint research initiatives, and cross-institutional faculty appointments in examiner and thesis supervisor roles. "There are so many opportunities to enrich our teaching and research through this partnership," said Prof. Yeboah-Banin, underscoring the mutual gains available to both institutions through shared academic resources.
Prof. Tolay echoed the enthusiasm, noting that Penn State Harrisburg, like SICS, is actively seeking collaborations that deepen impact while broadening their reach.
The partnership discussions come as SICS intensifies efforts to strengthen its curriculum, faculty, and research profile, positioning itself as a globally engaged academic institution.
