Crisis Communication and Reputation Management

Why This Course

A reputational crisis does not announce itself. It arrives without warning, accelerates through social media and demands decisions before the facts are fully clear. This course does not teach crisis theory. It puts participants through live, high-pressure simulations drawn from real Ghanaian and African scenarios, complete with breaking social media feeds, journalist calls and stakeholder demands arriving simultaneously. Leaders discover their instincts, test their judgment under pressure and build the muscle memory to respond effectively when the real thing happens.

What You Will Work On

  • The first 60 minutes: what to say, what not to say and who must be in the room when a crisis breaks
  • Live crisis simulation: managing a multi-channel reputational emergency in real time with incoming media calls, social media escalation and board pressure
  • When the facts are against you: communicating honestly without making things worse
  • Social media crisis dynamics: understanding virality, amplification and how to regain narrative control
  • Post-crisis recovery: the 90-day reputation rebuild playbook
  • Building organizational crisis readiness: teams, protocols and rehearsal schedules that actually work

What You Leave With

  • Personal experience of leading a crisis response under realistic pressure, with facilitator debriefing on decision-making patterns
  • A crisis response protocol template adapted to participants' own organizations during the course
  • Confidence and composure under pressure that comes only from simulated experience, not from reading about it
