Information Studies is an interdisciplinary science primarily concerned with analysis, collection, classification, manipulation, storage, retrieval and dissemination of information. This programme is very important especially in this day and age where computers and computer- related equipment have made information explode in ways where knowing which information to solve which problem has become the headache of most corporations. The Department has therefore made it its vision and mission to help tackle this problem.

The Department of Information Studies aims to be at par with top notch information studies schools across the world through equipping our students with the knowledge and skills to follow careers in information management, effectively compete in the emerging information market and also support efforts to address the information management challenges facing Ghana.

Our mission is to develop world-class human resources with capabilities to harness information for national development and provide added value and competitive advantage through quality teaching, learning, research and knowledge dissemination.
The knowledge which students would gain from the Department will prepare them for a wide range of careers in the information, library and archival sectors.

We once again welcome you and encourage you as well to consciously take advantage of the various opportunities in the University to your benefit. Our Department is dedicated to assisting you to reap the maximum benefit of your stay in the University.
